Jalen Brunson gave New York Knicks fans a proper scare on Wednesday night after the All-Star point guard suffered a scary injury early on in Game 2 against the Indiana Pacers.

After sitting out the second quarter, the 27-year-old returned to the game to lead the Knicks to a hard-fought 130-121 victory.

After the win, Knicks head coach Tom Thibodeau had nothing but high praise for his star. The tenured shot-caller sounded off on Brunson’s ability to bounce back from adversity:

“The mental toughness piece is so important,” Thibodeau said. “The ability to get through things. To be at your best when your best is needed even when you may not be feeling your best. That’s who he is. He’s a great leader.”

Brunson returned and closed out the game for New York to finish with a team-high 29 points on 11-of-18 shooting, two rebounds, five assists, three steals, and three triples in 32 minutes of action.

Thanks to Brunson’s resiliency, the Knicks now have a sizeable 2-0 advantage over the Pacers. The series now heads to Indiana for Games 3 and 4, with New York already smelling blood.
